About
Dan will present an overview of the progression of historical perceptions and stigmas related to suicide and efforts by society to dissuade suicide. His discussion will focus on the mental health issues and the risks of suicide that many first responders encounter and how societal attitudes and circulated information can influence approaches to prevention. Dan will describe the resilience, skills, and strength inherent in the characters of first responders and how these qualities can be tools in efforts to prevent suicide. Additionally, he will offer an understanding and application of three focuses to include prevention, intervention and postvention, to hopefully significantly reduce suicide as an option and promoting mental well-being in both professional and personal life.
