Built to Last: Strengthening the First Responder Couple
"The same qualities that make you effective on the job - preparation, teamwork, communication, and resilience - are also what make your most important relationship built to last."
Strong relationships are not formed by chance. They take intentional work, make consistent effort, and when under pressure, they don’t give up. We often enter relationships with baggage from our pasts and don’t realize the impact it is having on ourselves and eventually the person we care about most. As a first responder, there are additional variables which make keeping your relationship strong even more difficult. Between trauma and stress, shift changes, hypervigilance, organizational betrayal, and more, a first responder relationship is certainly challenging.
We were created for connection. Whether you are married, dating, engaged, or long to be in a relationship with someone who desires to put the work in as you do, working on yourself is essential. You train as a first responder to keep other’s safe – why wouldn’t you also train your mind, heart, and spirit to be healthy, so you can intentionally show-up as the best version of yourself?
In this course, Dustin and Ashley will unpack practical ways to keep your most intimate relationship strong as a first responder couple. Additionally, they will share their own stories of conflict and how they are continually humbled and motivated to not give up.
