When silence starts feeling unfamiliar

Have you ever noticed that silence can feel a bit uncomfortable at first? I mean real silence, not just background noise from videos or music. I’m starting to wonder if we’ve gotten so used to constant input that quiet moments actually feel strange now. Do you think people still know how to just sit with nothing happening?

That’s a really interesting point, and honestly I think a lot of people feel that way but don’t notice it. I definitely went through a phase where silence felt too empty, so I filled it with constant content. Eventually I realized it wasn’t relaxing at all — it was just habit. What helped me was slowly reintroducing calm, low-stimulation content instead of jumping straight from noise to silence. I’d watch very soft,

videos in the evening, just to ease the transition. It gave my mind something gentle to focus on without overwhelming it. Over time, I got more comfortable with quieter moments overall.
